Giftwhale doesn't handle payments—we only manage the wish list. You'll need to buy the gift yourself, either online or in a shop. If the item has a link, you can use it to go directly to the product page.
Giftwhale allows gift reservations so others can see what’s already taken. You can reserve an item with or without a Giftwhale account.
A wish list is a collection of desired items or experiences that a person hopes to acquire or achieve. It can include anything from material possessions like gadgets and clothing to intangible things such as travel destinations or personal goals. Wish lists are most often used as a tool for gift-giving occasions such as birthdays, weddings, baby showers and more.
Log in and click 'Create a wish list' on the home page, or go to your wish lists and click '+New wish list'. You'll be taken to the settings page where you can customise your list for any occasion. Your wish list stays private until you choose to share it.
To mark an item as reserved by you, just press the Reserve button on the item you want to get. If you've got an account, this is all you need to do. If you don't have an account you'll need to confirm the reservation via your email. Once confirmed the reservation will be displayed to everyone viewing the list that this item is no longer available.
Open the wish list you want to add to (from your Dashboard or wish lists page), then click the '+New Item' button.
Yes. Go to your wish lists page, select the list you want to add to, then click the '+New Item' button.
The easiest way is to paste a link. Enter the URL and click 'Fetch'—Giftwhale will automatically pull in the price, description, and image. You can edit any of this information afterwards.
If there's no link available (perhaps you spotted something in a shop), you can add the details and picture manually.
Once the event date for the wish list has passed the event moves into your previous wish list area and from here you can do any of the following actions:
Give the wish list a new date and it'll move back into your active wish lists.
Mark any of the items as received, and this will show you who got the item for you. You can duplicate received items and copy them onto a new wish list if desired.
Move any of the unreceived items onto another wish list.
To view any previous wish list, go to the wish list page and change the ‘Show’ option from ‘upcoming’ to ‘previous’. You can now see all your old wish lists and clicking on one will open it.
Yes. On Giftwhale, you can add experiences exactly like physical items. Include a link to the provider, specify the type of experience, and add any notes about timing or preferences. Gift-givers can then reserve the experience so others know it's covered.
Yes. Parents can create and manage children’s wish lists and share them with family.
